Bride waiting for her husband at Prague Castle

Bride waiting for her husband at Prague Castle

I first met Katie & Michael a year prior to their wedding during one of their many trips to Prague. It was evident that they were planing a wonderful wedding celebration for their family & friends who were coming in from around the world. They were expecting only the best for their destination wedding and were intent on going over all of the details; as I listened to them discuss their ideas their smiles would get bigger and more excited. You just knew that this one was going to be quite beautiful & fun.

I was surprised to hear Katie say that she did not want to have the bridal preparation covered (she is also explained that she is very shy). She felt that the time was better spent on capturing the family & friends in the evening. She did state that she would very much like to have a few single portraits of her - and only if I had the time? Michael stressed that what they really wanted was a reportage of their wedding day. No art direction, no over the top posing - just real, honest, emotional images that capture how they felt and what was going on as it happened - and so it was settled.

Their wedding venue: the incredible Vrtba Garden – a jewel of a garden for many reasons. The evening dinner & party was to take place at the Alchymist Grand Hotel – a venerable Prague institution that I have always enjoyed as their ballroom is such a wonderful intimate space. They did allocate time for a small walk through the Royal Gardens of Prague Castle followed up by a meet up with family & friends on the Charles Bridge for a special event that the mothers had planned.

Though there are so many wonderful emotions and moments captured, some of my faves (and theirs too) are the simple moments these two shared as they walked around Prague on their wedding day.

Of course the highlights were the evening of dancing and partying with close family & friends. Instead of writing I always feel that it is best to let the images speak for themselves.
