Having a Christmas Wedding in Prague is always special, but when you have a wonderful couple such as Tabitha & Russell – you have all the ingredients for a truly unforgettable wedding day.
When Tabitha & Russell showed up for their wedding at Prague’s Old Town Hall Russell was keeping to his promise of not seeing his bride before they wedded. Clutching a family heirloom with an amazing story of it’s own he was led slowly into the hall blindfolded while his bride was hidden from him while he took his place. The wait was worth it as Tabitha emerged into the ceremonial hall looking stunning in her wedding dress and pearls and as you can see Russell was very pleased indeed.
I have photographed many weddings here in Prague, but Tabitha & Russell’s will stand out for a very long time – it was truly beautiful. Whether it was the wonderful and unexpected song performed by Tabitha after she exchanged her vows with Russell that left several people in the ceremonial hall in tears. Or their first dance as husband and wife under the astronomical clock with a beautiful guitar and vocal accompaniment (music from the Once soundtrack). Or their thoughtfulness in bringing candies and cookies to the surprised people in the square when they emerged as husband and wife for the first time. It was truly an unforgettable wedding day – especially as they danced under Prague’s Orloj with many tourists capturing the beautiful moment with their own cameras or applauding them on for more.
It is couples like Tabitha & Russell that make me feel truly lucky to have chosen wedding reportage as my new career path. Being able to photograph and tell stories of couple’s wedding days like Tabitha & Russell is simply a joy – one I rarely received as a magazine & wire photographer.
Yet, the one thing I will remember most is not only the amount of love and affection they truly have for each other, but how special their attention to details matter, such as a watch, pearls, a handcrafted wedding ring, a suitcase and especially how two people took the extra time to create a truly beautiful wedding day not only for themselves but for each other. It was that beautiful!
