I had the pleasure of photographing Leslie & Steve’s wedding in Grainau in the heart of the Bavarian Alps.
Leslie and I are military ‘brats’ (dependents) who grew up on bases worldwide. Plus, with her and Steve both being active duty in the US Army how could I resist being a part of their wedding day!
Their wedding venue, the Eibsee Hotel, sits along the crystal clear lake Eibsee that is under the highest mountain in Germany, the Zugspitze.
Though cloudy and rainy most of the day, the intermittent showers did hold off long enough to allow the sun to break through. With an Alpine panoramic around us, and basked in the warmth of the sunlight, it was a beautiful ceremony led by a chaplain from the nearby military base.
After the ceremony, and group pictures & portraits, the couple enjoyed some light fare with drinks before it was time for our guests to take in a boat ride. Steve opted to take Leslie out in a rowboat to enjoy some quiet time with his beautiful bride. One of my favorite images from their wedding day are the two of them enjoying the quiet time together under the towering Alps.
With a storm blowing in, we headed inside the hotel for an evening of toasts, dinner & dancing. Normally the bride & groom take leave of their guests via a rowboat with flying wishes, but the evening rain and the choppy waters nixed that idea. Instead, Leslie & Steve were sent off with hugs and kisses from family & friends under the light of sparklers.
To Leslie & Steve, it was a pleasure meeting you and your guests. I wish you much love, happiness and success!
